Wargames Nerd

A blog for all my nerdy games, miniature painting, and other shenanigans.
I’m a proud Kickstarter backer of Red Republic Games’ Arena Rex so I spent last night from like 2 in the morning till 5 fixing up all the play test paper models and cards ready to play so I know which models I’d want to order on the pledge manager.

Arena Rex is an skirmish combat game “in the Mythic Age” between small bands of gladiators and beasts. Every warrior comes with a character card that outlines its stats and rules, as well as it’s unique “damage tree” that determines the damage it does to other models in combat.

Arena Rex also employs a unique resource management system through “fatigue” that limits your actions during your turn phase, and “favour” that expands your options and chances in combat.

Arena Rex features great artwork and design and the miniatures that have already been sculpted look gorgeous and rich in crisp detail. I can’t wait to see some of the larger models finished such as Zahra and Sereqet, an Egyptian female warrior riding a giant scorpion.

Check out the models
